'browsing beauty' at Thames Art Gallery, Chatham

The Noiseborder Ensemble perform at the opening of 'browsing beauty' by Andrea Sunder-Plassmann and Sigi Torinus: Sound for the show also created by the Noiseborder Ensemble, and has been recorded on vinyl (LP).



Browsing Beauty will be exhibited in the Ground Floor Gallery of the Thames Art Gallery from October 30th until November 29th, 2009. An opening reception will take place on November 5th, 7pm at the Thames Art Gallery where the artists will be on hand to speak about their work. The Thames Art Gallery is located at 75 William Street N, Chatham, ON and open 7 days a week from 1-5pm.

This exhibition is presented in partnership with The Robert McLaughlin Art Gallery and the WKP Kennedy Gallery.

Noiseborder Ensemble meets blackhole-factory

an interactive performance using the network of two performance spaces as a delay line.

Connected via audio and video live streaming, the Noiseborder Ensemble in Windsor, Canada (Brent Lee/Saxophone, Nick Papador/percussion, Trevor Pittman/clarinet, Sundar Subramanian/ guitar, Sigi Torinus/ visuals) and blackhole-factory (Martin Slawig/MAX/MSP) in Braunschweig, Germany performed together: the sound of the acoustic instruments was streamed to Germany, transformed there by live processing software and streamed back to Windsor and integrated back into the performance. The challenge was to work with a more or less 11 second network delay.
