Full house for Particle Zoo

Particle Zoo is an interactive piece for one percussionist (Nicholas Papador) and two laptop performers (Brent Lee & Sigi Torinus). The work explores ideas of scale and the perception of time sonically and visually. Both laptops use MaxMSP/Jitter to process live sound and video, to map gestures from the sonic into the visual realm, and to mix a variety of sounds and images relating to the central concept. Much of the visual material is derived from electron microscope images of instruments used in the performance. The video features a series of brief excerpts from the piece. (camera: Kevin Peiffer)

Particle Zoo

Monday, November 29, 2010 - 7:30 - 8:00 PM
Lambton Tower, Studio A, University of Windsor

Brent Lee, Nick Papador, Sigi Torinus:
a performance of a new work-in-progress for solo percussion, live video mixing, and live audio remixing.

The work explores the ideas of scale and the perception of time sonically and visually. This is the first project from NOISEBORDER to utilize their recent CFI-funded equipment. The group has also incorporated microscopic images for this unique performance with assistance from the University of Windsor's Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research (GLIER).
